 Fatigue Awareness
| Overview |
Fatigue is widely accepted as a major contributor to deaths on our roads. There is now a growing awareness amongst Organisations that fatigue poses a significant threat to the health, safety and wellbeing of their employees, especially those involved in higher risk work activities such as supervising or personally driving or operating machinery or vehicles.
Even employees not directly involved in higher risk work activities, such as office based employees who drive to and from work, and possibly drive on company business from time to time are at risk from fatigue related road crashes. If a person is fatigued they are far more likely to be involved in a serious road crash. 17 to 19 hours awake produces similar or worse levels of performance impairment tests as the legal driving limit Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.05. No employer wants to lose the services of a valued employee, independent of the consideration whether the fatigue was possibly contributed to by their work or not.

 Fatigue Awareness Training Course
Seventeen to nineteen hours awake produces similar or worse levels of performance impairment tests as the legal driving limit Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.05. No employer wants to lose the services of a valued employee, independent of the consideration whether the fatigue was possibly contributed to by their work or not.
Upon completion of the non-shortened version of this course attendees will be able to:
Improve their own personal management of fatigue
Participate and contribute constructively to the development of their Organisation’s fatigue management programme.
